All Things Horsey

...I heard that one of my old show horses, Marcel Marceau, was put down today. He was such a special animal that came along at just the right time in my life. He was solid and trustworthy and always took care of me. I won my very first blue ribbon in saddle seat with him at Tanbark in '96, which was only one of the many great rides he game me. Due to his coloring and presence he was always a crowd favorite and many people remember him fondly. He lived out his golden years being spoiled and loved by another owner, just as he absolutely deserved. Such a loss...

33 is a very ripe old age for a horse. Obviously, you gave him a great life. Not only do they add to our lives, in some ways these wonderful animals give us more than we give them. I can't imagine my life without my horses. My boy JC is worth every sacrifice we are making for him. He is a wonderful giving, caring individual. All he asks is that he get his carrots after we are done riding. I don't think I have ever owned a horse like him and the fact that we bred him makes him that much more special. I have been with him since he was born and riding him now is just an amazing feeling. You can feel how much he cares about you every second you are on him. All he wants to do is please and, if he thinks he isn't pleasing you, he punishes himself as he thinks he is doing something wrong. He doesn't realize that it could be the human who is doing something bad lol

I had to have my old horse put down the day beforeChristmas. He was 33 and gave many wonderful rides. I really miss him. It's amazing how much they add to our lives.

It is always sad news when a loved one dies. It was hard also for his owner who had to put him down. It really is too bad - my sympathies.

I'm so sorry Susan. I know how hard it is to lose a horse.
