I have been pretty much laid up since September of 2007 when I got beat up in a fight at work. By the end of January, I had had two shoulder surgeries. I rode after my surgeries if you could call it that. When I got to the point that my shoulders were as healed as they could get, I broke my leg. That left me with another 10 weeks of not riding.
My arms will never improve; they are what they are. My leg has almost healed. I do have to get on and off with a 3 step stool. I am trying to ride as much as possible to get myself in shape to show JC this summer. Today, I learned something new-horsey aerobics. My trainer had me ride with free weights. OMG I never thought I would get through it. My arms hadn't really been used in well over a year. Now I was riding with free weights in each hand and posting at the same time. She was worse than any personal trainer I ever had. I didn't realize how weak I really was.
I was ready to quit and my trainer said it's either learn to do this and get your strength, lose the weight or blow out the seams in your riding suit. I pondered that in my mind for quite a while. It wouldn't be so bad to let out my suit provided I left big enough seams when I had it made. The one thing that kept me going was JC. He is such a beautiful boy. Did I want him to look horrible by having this big blob sit on him? No! That would not be fair to him. I will never be as pretty as him, but it's not fair to him to take away from his beauty by my not pushing to be all I can for him.
So, for as long as it takes and as many times a week, I will do horsey aerobics. I will make JC proud and I will not quit. Thank you Terri Anne for pushing me as hard as you do and doing what you do to help me. I have had other trainers who have just ridiculed me over the years when I was heavy and never pushed me. I will never quit or give up on you or JC. Although liposuction could be easier :)
